NATURE AND CULTURE

  • Known to all but still full of surprises: the Genneper Parken offer indoor and outdoor activities, focussing on sports, nature and/or culture.  Visit their website on a regular basis to stay informed!  ... do not miss their exhibition either about "Talking Animals". Just have a look at their agenda.
  • De Vergeten Tuin on the Palingstraat offers a hidden oasis in the city centre

  • De Vlindertuin Eckartdal en Wandelpark Eckart: wonderful butterfly garden aiming also to re-integrate people with a disability in the society

  • You can also visit the website of Natuurmonumenten (Dutch Association for Nature Conservation) for activity tips and nature trails. One of them offers space, light and wildess, whatever the season and the weather: National Park the Loonse & Drunense Duinen, not far from Den Bosch.

  • Eindhovense Vennen: In Eindhoven and surroundings there are beautiful peateries.  If the weather is nice, you can go there nice and quiet into nature, on foot or by bike.  You can also go horseback riding or mountain biking.  One of these peateries is Meeuwven in Waalre.  Absolutely stunning!  Nearby there is de Hut van Mie Pils where you can enjoy a drink or something to eat if you want to take a break.

  • Do you feel like having another look at the surroundings of Eindhoven? On a canoë for example? This is possible, at Kanovaren in Valkenswaard.

  • Do not miss the Wasven either: this green accomodation offers a large range of outdoor activities, and has a seasonal calender.

  • Or try to find your way out of the appletrees or cornfields of the Philips Fruittuin! Depending on the season you can also take part to the harvest, and enjoy a hot chocolade or fresh limonade on their terrace.

  • The Splinter in Eindhoven and the Klimbim in Waaler are very nice outdoor playgrounds... just be aware of changing opening times and days! Last but not least, the Philips Speeltuin (Strijp S) offers a great variety of pleasures for small and old children. They also organize seasonal activities as eggshunt and fleemarkets: just have a look at their activities overview.

  • A little bit further away we recommend you two stop overs: the Outdoor Museum of Eynderhoof: a living hisorical museum about the Limburg region; and Dierenrijk: a very special zoo in Nuenen where you do not only look at animals...

    • A little bit more ambitious would be the Happen en Trappen packages: a nice combination of good sport and good food, for kids and adults!

      • Do not forget either to check the activities overview of the many libraries in Eindhoven: various workshops, craft activities, story telling afternoons for rainy days...

      • And how about the Van Abbe Museum Kids Kunst Club: art club for kids form 4y old, on saturday afternoon, while the parents are enjoying the exhibition or going down down to shop or have a drink?

      • The Erfgoed Brabant organisation edits a free guide of all museums in the region: you can order it here. Even though the information is in English nice pictures will give you an idea of what you can expect form your visits..., and you do not need to speak Dutch to understand information about location and opening hours. As for example: the Prehistorical Museum in Boxtel (meet the dynosaurus!); the Nature Museum Brabant in Tilburg, Bakery Museum in Oosterhout and the Meal Museum in Luyksgestel, and 100 more!

      • For knights and castles fans, remember the municipal museum of Helmond with its special summer holiday program! Adres: F.J. van Thielpark 7, 5701PP Helmond; opening hours: Mon-Fri: 10.00-17.00; Sat & Sun: 13.00-17.00.
